Superheroes Walk is April 21
Due to last week’s winter storm and loss of power in the area, we rescheduled our Superheroes Walk to Saturday, April 21 at the Stroud Mall.
Here at Family Promise of Monroe County, we believe providing sustainable housing is essential to ending homelessness. Every day we work to provide a safe shelter, meals and support services for families with children who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, in conjunction with local organizations.
Raising funds to support our work is vital to the success of our operation. Join Family Promise on Saturday, March 3 for a Superheroes Walk for Homeless Families, a 3.2K walk around Stroud Mall. Costumes are encouraged for all walkers with prizes being awarded to the best child/adult costume. Individual and/or teams may participate. Joining us for the walk again this year will be DJ Johnny
Did you know…
- The number of homeless children in the U.S. has surged in recent years to an all-time high, amounting to one child in every 30, according to a comprehensive state-by-state report that attributes the national high poverty rate to the lack of affordable housing and the impacts of pervasive domestic violence (Crary & Leff, 2014).
- During 2017, Family Promise of Monroe County served 71 families consisting of 286 individuals, 64% of them were under the age of 17.
- We provided 2,489 nights of shelter and served more than 1,690 meals.
Start your day with us inside the warmth of the Stroud Mall where we will offer hot coffee, juice, water and bagels while you check in at 8 am.
Prizes, tricky tray baskets and other special events are planned.
